Today Route 66, "The Mother Road" which connected Chicago to Los Angeles before our interstate system had evolved is forever engraved in our minds and history as in integral part of many celebrations throughout the US. Enthusiasts from around the county and internationally come to celebrate the heritage of Route 66 with date back to 1926. The longest stretch of "The Mother Road" which exist today stretches across Mohave County for over 158 miles.
A Celebration of Historic Route 66, dubbed the "Mother Road" will be held in Kingman Arizona in August of 2014. The Kingman festival will run Aug 13th through Aug 17 2014.
The festival will include events at the Hualapai Mountain Resort, an exhibit of acclaimed award winning Route 66 authors and artists, plus collectors of Route 66 memorabilia at the new events center in historic downtown Kingman. In addition a film festival will be held featuring movies that were filmed on Route 66 featuring Andy Devine or filmed in Kingman, AZ. There is a golf tournament, bowling tournament, tours of Desert Diamond Distillery, activities at Hualapai Mountain Park and cars cruising at night.
